Setting the stage for this vision to become reality, the Nevis Tourism Authority is giving away a special holiday prize package of a vacation for two. This dream vacation includes two roundtrip flights from the U.S. to St. Kitts with water taxi transfer to the island of Nevis, a three-night stay at Four Seasons Resort Nevis, plus a three-night stay at Golden Rock Hotel Nevis for a grand total of 6 nights/7 days at two of the most luxurious resorts within the destination. The contest runs November 8, 2022, through January 31, 2023, with the winner announced on February 10, 2023.
Holiday Treats to Make the Season Even Sweeter
In Nevis, we celebrate Christmas very much like is done elsewhere throughout the world with houses decorated in lights and carolers called ‘sagua’ traveling door to door to perform Christmas songs using string and wood instruments. Of course, gathering around the table with family and friends to enjoy traditional holiday dishes is the best part of any celebration.
A favorite holiday dish in Nevis is Black Fruit Cake, which is baked with fruits that have been soaked in rum and seasoned with spices including cinnamon and nutmeg. The resulting cake is very dark in color and soft like pudding. The traditional holiday drink of choice is Sorrel Tea, a burgundy-colored drink made from the sepals of the sorrel plant and infused with flavors such as ginger and cloves. Local Spotlight: Wincent Perkins
It’s hard to fathom Wincent Perkins, owner of Islander Watersports saying that he enjoys “life in the slow lane,” but it’s true.
